What is speed dating?

From its Los Angeles origin in the 90s, Speed dating has spread throughout the world and is now finally being introduced to South West Wales by Spark. Speed dating is an exciting concept of meeting new people, which comprises events where up to 25 males and 25 females meet one another and each engage in a three-minute "date". This presents the opportunity for a large number of single, like-minded individuals to socialise without the pressure of awkward first date conversation - you only have three minutes to chat - you have to make them count!

Should you be presented with a situation where you are not attracted to the other individual, you simply choose to "friendship" or "no match" option on your scorecard and move on after your three minutes. However, should you find yourself interested in the individual you are "dating", tick the "match" box on your scorecard and hopefully get a Spark-Match if they also tick you!

Each event comprises of equal numbers of men and women (wherever possible) each seated as couples and provided with 3 minutes to get to know each other and make an impression. The men then move to the next table to begin their second date and so on. The daters then make a note of the individuals they wish to see again and the hosts are responsible for providing you with the information of those people you matched with - i.e. you ticked that you would like to see them again, and they also ticked you!
